Dr. Shabana Insaf PhD, has a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from SNDT Women’s University in India. She came to the United States in 1991 to pursue a graduate program in Medicinal Chemistry and Drug Design at the Ohio State University. She completed her graduate program at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI and was awarded a Ph.D. in Jan 1996. She completed post-graduate training at University of California, Irvine working with Dr. James Nowick to explore the dynamics of protein folding. She completed a second post-graduate training program at Purdue University with Dr. Mark Cushman designing novel anti-cancer agents.
She worked at Scriptgen Pharmaceuticals in Medford, MA from 1998 to 1999 exploring anti-HCV agents. She went on to work for Advanced Medicine in Cranbury, NJ designing novel anti-infective agents. Advanced Medicine moved its location to California and she decided to join Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in 2001. At Wyeth, she explored new chemical syntheses and designed anti-hepatitis C agents until 2005.
She co-owns and manages rental properties for Fountainhead Properties, LLC and is a licensed broker-salesperson in the state of Missouri.
She has studied Philosophy and has a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Ayn Rand Institute.
She enjoys painting portraits and landscapes. She enjoys watching thrillers and cooking with ingredients on hand. She practices her chemistry by combining spices and foods to create novel culinary concoctions.
She is also a tennis fan. Her favorite tennis players are Justine Henin, Roger Federer, Lleyton Hewitt and Andre Agassi.
